WATER BASED ADHESIVES
What Is Water Activated Tape?
Water-based adhesives consist of spherical particles surrounded by a SURFACTANT in a water carrier. They are generally less expensive and more environmentally friendly than solvent acrylic adhesives, but due to the water-based properties they do not oer good moisture resistance, leading to solvent acrylics being preferred for critical applications.
Water activated tape is often used for closing and sealing boxes. Before closing corrugated fiberboard boxes, the tape is moistened with water. The tape is usually 3 inch or 7.5 cm wide.
Water-activated, or “gummed,” tape is often used and is very effective for sealing corrugated cartons and boxes. Before closing corrugated fiberboard boxes, the tape is moistened with water. The tape is usually 3 inch or 7.5 cm wide. As the adhesive will bond with the fiberboard material to create a strong durable seal and endure a tough handling during shipping. The tape usually works well on recycled cartons and non-unitized loads. Its reinforced construction assures reliable performance across a range of environments and applications. Gummed tape is an economical packaging tape that will meet the needs of numerous industries and general industrial applications such as food, beverage, medical pharmaceutical, paper, print, electronics, shipping, and distribution centers.
Application is most easily accomplished at room temperature and once applied; the tape performs well throughout the normal temperature ranges typically encountered by packaged products in shipping and storage environments.
